Harnessing Parliamentary Diplomacy for Realization of Global Solidarity, Equality and Sustainability

About South Africa

South Africa is Africa’s youngest democracy, that prides itself of 31 years of freedom and democracy that were ushered-in in 1994 following the defeat of a repressive apartheid system.

Since its attainment of freedom and democracy, South Africa stands out as a developing country that across the spectrum punches above its weight including its role in improving global governance, pursuit of peace and democracy and in exporting its unique experience of a negotiated transition to democracy.

South Africa continues to grow as a go-to destination globally in respect of travellers, investors, and tourists. Her captivating offerings include a unique blend of natural beauty that covers breathtaking landscapes, a multi-climate coastline, vibrant cities and communities that are a melting pot of rich cultures, and a dynamic business environment.

Each of the nine provinces that constitute South Africa, has its special offerings, including Eastern Cape, Free State, Gauteng, North West, Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape.

As hosts to the 11th P20 Summit and its subsidiary gatherings, the Western Cape and particularly Cape Town at its heart, is a dynamic region where cultures, flavours, and experiences converge. Similarly, the Indian and Atlantic Oceans meet at Cape Point, as one of the must visit attractions alongside winelands, flora and fauna. Climate
Cape Town experiences mild temperatures in October. The daytime temperatures range from 20OC to 23OC (68OF to 73OF) and at nighttime, they drop to 11OC to 13OC (52OF and 55OF). Some occasional rainfall may be expected.

Currency
Most major international currencies can be exchanged at the airport, hotels and nearby banks. Rates of exchange might vary slightly from one institution to another. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels and most shops.
