Honourable Speakers,

Esteemed Parliamentarians,

Distinguished Guests,

The 11th P20 Speakers’ Summit draws to a close, and with it, a remarkable chapter in our journey towards shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient global future has been marked. Over the two days, this Summit has served as a vibrant space for dialogue, reflection, and collaboration, bringing together parliamentary leaders from the G20 nations and beyond, united by a shared commitment to democratic governance, sustainable development and global solidarity.

The conversations held here have been both timely and impactful. From the urgent need to mobilize finance for a just energy transition, to the imperative of ensuring debt sustainability for low- and middle-income countries, and the strategic importance of harnessing critical minerals for inclusive development, each working session has clarified the path forward with clarity and conviction.

The adoption of the Joint Declaration is an important step symbolizing a shared commitment to tackle the contemporary world challenges. It is not just a ceremonial document but a blueprint for action and a clarion call for Parliamentarians to use their legislative instruments to change the world for better. It reflects the consensus of diverse voices and the convergence of national interests around common global goals. More importantly, the Declaration is not an end but the beginning of action-oriented Parliaments. Its true value lies in how it is carried forward, and that responsibility rests squarely with parliaments.

Members, Parliaments are not passive observers of global change. They are active agents of transformation. Through legislation, oversight, budgetary control, and public participation, our parliaments possess the tools to turn commitments into actions. The principles enshrined in the Joint Declaration must now be embedded in our national laws, reflected in fiscal priorities, and monitored through transparent and accountable governance mechanisms.

Driving these commitments requires more than political will, is also demands true institutional reforms and leadership devotions. Parliamentarians must champion inclusive policies that leave no one behind. They must advocate for climate justice, economic equity, and sustainable development. They must ensure that the voices of marginalized communities are heard, and that the benefits of growth are shared broadly and fairly.

Central to these global efforts is the empowerment of women and youth. They are our vital stakeholders; they are powerful agents of social change and sources of novelty. Parliaments must prioritize gender-responsive legislation and support youth-led initiatives. They must also create an enabling environments where women and youth can lead, innovate, and thrive. Their inclusion is important to building resilient societies and achieving the goals set forth in the Joint Declaration.

Heads of Delegates and Esteemed Members, This Summit has reaffirmed the power of parliamentary diplomacy. In a world marked by geopolitical tensions and economic uncertainties, the P20 platform offered a space for constructive engagement and mutual learning. It has reminded us that dialogue across borders can foster trust, build consensus, and inspire action.

The road ahead will not be easy. Implementing the commitments of the Joint Declaration will require navigating complex political landscapes, balancing competing priorities, and confronting entrenched inequalities. But parliaments are uniquely equipped to meet these challenges. They are grounded in democratic legitimacy, guided by public accountability, and driven by the mandate to serve.

Returning to national capitals, parliamentarians carry with them a clear and urgent mandate. Work does not end here, it begins anew. The momentum generated in this Summit must be sustained through concrete legislative initiatives, inclusive policy frameworks, and continued international cooperation.

The P20 must continue to evolve not just as a forum for dialogue, but as a catalyst for action. It must deepen its engagement with civil society, academia, and the private sector. It must strengthen its capacity to monitor progress and share best practices. And it must remain anchored in the values of democracy, equity, and sustainability.

In closing, sincere gratitude is extended to all who made this Summit a success: the host parliament, the organising teams, the speakers, and every delegate who contributed to the richness of our discussions. The spirit of collaboration and commitment that has defined this gathering must now be carried forward into our legislative chambers, our policy debates, and our national development agendas.

The future we seek is within reach. It will be shaped not by declarations alone, but by the decisions and actions of our parliaments across the world.

Thank you.
